What We Do

Listen Up Web Audio specialises in providing professionally produced website audio content and podcasts, for charities and non-profit organisations – at a fraction of the cost of many commercial companies.

We carefully work through the client’s website, and suggest areas where audio could enhance the existing content.

Once the client has agreed the kind of audio they want we take those ideas and offer a complete service, scripting, recording, and editing to produce a finished piece of audio.

We then deliver this audio in whichever format suits the client best.

Why?

We want to enable people to get their message across to the largest possible audience, in the most effective way.

The internet has revolutionised the way people receive information. But it’s also revolutionised their expectations. They expect websites to deliver more than just the written word.

It’s now commonplace for people to download songs from the internet to listen to on their computers, their iPods or their mobile phones. Website content should be equally accessible. Times have changed. Websites without audio will soon be the equivalent of watching television with the sound turned down.

How Can Audio Enhance A Website?

People are more responsive to what they hear, than to what they read. Hearing a voice adds a human dimension. Audio is more direct and has more emotional impact than the written word.  It offers a more personal way of connecting with people and with issues – just as radio does. Web visitors also stay longer - listening to interesting features or interviews.

Well produced audio adds a new dimension that enhances a website. Badly produced audio, like bad design or badly written copy can have the opposite effect.

But good audio can make a website more engaging, more personal, more trustworthy and more immediate.

Podcasts allow visitors to a website to take away information and listen to it when and where they want to - on the train, in the car, at the gym, or in bed!

All websites are also officially subject to legislation which has been in place since 1999. Under the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act, website providers have to make ‘reasonable adjustment’ for those with special needs, just like those offering goods and services directly to the public. Audio can be an important way of increasing the ease of access to a website for those with disabilities.
